Despite her current on-screen persona, Charlotte Flair has openly expressed her desire to once again embrace the role of a babyface in WWE. The veteran performer, who has spent most of her time since returning from injury as a heel, shared her thoughts on the challenges and rewards of playing a fan favorite.
In a conversation with WrestleZone, Flair addressed the difficulty in getting fans to cheer for her after her return from a significant knee injury that kept her out of action for all of 2024. She pointed specifically to her second Royal Rumble victory in 2025 as a moment that, while a career achievement, complicated any potential for a sympathetic character.
“Then I got hurt and when I came back, and how I came back. Obviously winning the Rumble twice isn’t like — and I don’t mean this in a bad way — but you don’t want the Yankees to always win, you know what I mean? So that is harder to gain that sympathy, that good guy feel,” Flair said.
Looking ahead, Flair revealed that her hope to eventually return to a babyface role is rooted in her enjoyment of connecting with the audience, particularly younger fans. She emphasized that fan interaction is a critical and fulfilling aspect of her career.
“But I do hope later down the road that I can transition back into that because I really do enjoy seeing the kids. And that’s what it’s all about, right? It’s the fan interaction, and if it wasn’t for you guys, we’d be out of business,” she added.
