Kenny Omega May Retire After AEW All In 2025

As AEW prepares for All In: Texas, a significant storyline centers on the future of Kenny Omega. With a high-stakes title unification match on the card, there is mounting speculation that Omega could announce his retirement should he be defeated.

The match pits Omega, the current AEW International Champion, against his rival Kazuchika Okada, the AEW Continental Champion. This “Winner Takes All” contest is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The victor will unify the titles into the new AEW Unified Championship. The bout is the culmination of a storyline that began with Omega’s return at Worlds End in December 2024 and was officially set after a confrontation in June.

Fueling the retirement talk are Omega’s own candid statements regarding his health. Following a severe bout of diverticulitis that sidelined him from late 2023 to early 2025, he continues to deal with significant physical challenges. Omega revealed he has adhesions in his stomach causing discomfort and flu-like symptoms, which can leave him bedridden for nearly a week after intense matches.

Despite these health issues, Omega has affirmed his dedication to competing.

“I would be at All In regardless of my health and I promised to win the AEW Unified Championship,” Omega stated.

His health struggles have also led him to reflect on his career’s longevity, suggesting the end is not far off. He has emphasized his desire to make his remaining performances count.

“I really hope that every single one of them means something, because the ones that don’t mean anything—it’s like chipping away at what’s left, and there isn’t much left,” Omega explained in a recent interview. “So I want to make sure that what is left, the meat that’s still on the bone, that it’s good tasting meat, you know? Hopefully.”

This context gives weight to the idea that a loss at All In could prompt a kayfabe retirement, potentially setting the stage for a final, high-impact run in the future.
