El Grande Americano defeated Dragon Lee on WWE RAW, continuing his undefeated streak just one week after Chad Gable announced he was having surgery.

New El Grande Americano Makes WWE In-Ring Debut

The storyline surrounding El Grande Americano took a significant turn on the July 7 edition of WWE RAW, as the masked superstar defeated Dragon Lee in a singles match. The victory, secured with a diving headbutt, maintains El Grande Americano’s undefeated record in one-on-one competition and marks Dragon Lee’s third loss to the character.

This in-ring appearance effectively confirms that a new performer has taken over the persona. The original portrayer, Chad Gable, announced on the June 30 episode of WWE RAW that he was taking time off to undergo surgery for a legitimate shoulder injury, making it impossible for him to have been cleared for action just a week later.

Widespread reports now identify Ludwig Kaiser as the man who has stepped into the role. The change became apparent during the June 30 broadcast when a noticeably taller and slimmer El Grande Americano appeared backstage shortly after Gable’s announcement. This new creative direction provides Kaiser with a significant storyline following the dissolution of the Imperium faction.

Further evidence supporting Kaiser’s new role has been noted by fans, including a scar on the new Americano’s arm that matches one belonging to Kaiser, who has also subtly hinted at the change on social media.

With a new superstar under the mask, the WWE Speed Championship will not be vacated. El Grande Americano, who won the title on May 7, 2025, has held the championship for over 60 days. It is now expected that Kaiser will continue to defend the title in Gable’s absence.
