AEW star MJF has expressed a significant career ambition that crosses promotional and industry lines, identifying WWE’s John Cena as someone he wants to work with. The goal, MJF explained, extends beyond the wrestling ring and into his burgeoning acting career.
His comments came during a recent interview with TV Insider while promoting his role in the upcoming Netflix movie Happy Gilmore 2. When asked about future collaborations, MJF was direct about his aspirations.
“I want to work with John Cena at some point in my career. That would mean an awful lot to me. Whether that is inside the wrestling bubble or outside the wrestling bubble. That’s the first name that comes to mind for sure.”
MJF also included other notable actors on his list.
“I would say I have to throw Dave Bautista on that list, too. Also, my good buddy Paul Walter Hauser. I think he is one of the best actors in the world. To be involved in a project with him would be an awful lot.”
This isn’t the first time the two stars have been linked. MJF and Cena previously interacted at the premiere of The Iron Claw in December 2023. MJF later recounted a conversation where Cena told him he hoped to see him “play for the right team one day.”
While his ambitions clearly reach into Hollywood and potentially toward WWE talent, MJF remains a central figure in AEW. He recently praised the current backstage atmosphere in AEW, noting a renewed sense of unity among the roster. As a founding member of the company, he is scheduled to be the second entrant in the Casino Gauntlet match at All In, with the winner receiving a future shot at the AEW World Championship.
