WWE referee Charles Robinson confirmed he suffered a legitimate rib injury during the World Heavyweight Championship match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The incident occurred when he was accidentally struck by a Spear from Goldberg during the legend’s final match against Gunther on July 12 in Atlanta.
Robinson addressed the situation on his Instagram account, confirming the injury but assuring he would not miss any time.
“Thanks @goldberg95! Never fear…I am ALL MAN and I can’t be kept down! I will return for @wwe #smackdown next week in #SanAntonio!” Robinson wrote.
The accidental Spear was a pivotal moment in the dramatic closing sequence of the match. After Robinson was incapacitated, Goldberg delivered a Jackhammer to Gunther, but a replacement official could only manage a two-count. Shortly after the failed pin attempt, Gunther secured a submission victory, choking out the 58-year-old Goldberg to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
The match marked the end of Goldberg’s storied career. Following the loss, he gave a farewell address to the Atlanta crowd, though the speech was cut off before the broadcast concluded.
