After a 17-year career in Japan that established her as a premier talent, Syuri made her anticipated AEW debut during the All In: Texas event on July 12. She appeared as a surprise entrant in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet Match, giving American audiences a direct look at the skills that made her a former IWGP Women’s Champion.
The impactful debut, which followed a vignette that aired during ROH Supercard of Honor in May, immediately led to speculation about her future in the company. However, any immediate plans for the STARDOM-signed star have been paused. On July 16, Syuri announced via her Instagram Stories that she is returning to Japan to address a persistent injury.
“I’m having surgery this month on my elbow, which has been hurting for a while!!” she wrote, in a statement translated by Mera Wrestling.
This development provides new context for her previously announced hiatus from STARDOM, which came after she lost her championship in June. With physical recovery now the clear priority, her timeline for a return to the ring in either Japan or the United States is currently unknown.
