Legendary announcer Jim Ross has revealed he suffered a significant fall just days before his appearance at AEW All In in Dallas. Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Ross detailed the incident, which occurred on the Thursday night leading into the event weekend.
The situation unfolded inside his hotel room, complicated by the fact Ross had accidentally left his phone in an Uber earlier that evening, leaving him without a way to call for assistance.
“I’m still recovering from Dallas. I had a bad fall on Thursday night in my hotel room,” Ross stated. “I was lucky. I wasn’t down for the count, but I had a hell of a fall and soft tissue… I didn’t break anything, I don’t think. I didn’t have my phone… I just went to bed. And it was challenging.”
While he avoided any broken bones, Ross acknowledged the recovery has been difficult due to lingering soreness. He noted that his age is a factor in the slow healing process.
“I’m still sore, to this very minute, I’m still sore,” Ross admitted. “The older you get, the slower you heal. And that’s kind of my situation right now. Just slow to heal. But I’ll make it. I’ll be alright. It’s not the first time that’s happened to me.”
Despite the fall, Ross made his scheduled appearance at AEW All In on Saturday, July 12, receiving a massive ovation from the Texas crowd. He joined the commentary team to call the final two matches of the night, which included the AEW World Championship bout between Jon Moxley and Hangman Page.
