Following the recent all-women’s premium live event, WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella has made a case for Evolution to become a permanent, annual fixture on the company’s calendar.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, Bella explained that the event’s value extends beyond a single historic night. She believes it should be treated as a recurring themed show, much like other established WWE staples.
“It becomes a yearly thing not because it’s about history making,” Nikki said. “It’s just that it’s fun and different for a PLE. How we have the Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Hell in a Cell, Survivor Series. A lot of our PLEs have themes, so why not one of the themes be all women?”
Bella elaborated on the concept, suggesting a summer spot for the event and emphasizing its potential as a unique showcase for the women’s division rather than something that needs to be framed as “history-making” each time.
“We don’t always have to make it about history-making and all this. Just, ‘how cool.’ Evolution every year,” she added. “I think it’s fun to put it in the summer. Put it before SummerSlam.”
This sentiment from Bella contrasts with past remarks from WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H. Following the inaugural Evolution, he noted that the company would monitor demand for a second installment, stating, “I don’t want to say it’s yearly, it’s not yearly. I think we see what the demand is for it.”
Nikki Bella made her in-ring return at the July 13 edition of Evolution, competing in the 20-Woman Battle Royal. Although she was eliminated by Lash Legend, the events of the night set a new course for her on WWE programming.
On the following episode of WWE RAW, Bella defeated Chelsea Green in a singles match. An attack by Green’s partners, Piper Niven and Alba Fyre, was thwarted by Stephanie Vaquer, the winner of the Evolution Battle Royal. This save has signaled a new alliance between Bella and Vaquer.
Beyond the annual event, Bella has also set her sights on a major singles program. She identified Rhea Ripley as an ideal future opponent, stating her belief that their respective characters would “create a lot of magic” together in a high-profile feud.
