After hinting that their legendary careers might be over, The Hardy Boyz are once again at the top of the TNA tag team division.
On July 20 at Slammiversary, Matt and Jeff Hardy captured the TNA Tag Team Championship for the fourth time. The duo won a chaotic four-way ladder match, defeating champions Nic and Ryan Nemeth, Myron Reed and Zachary Wentz, and the team of AJ Francis and KC Navarro. The victory came after all standard ladders were destroyed, forcing Jeff Hardy to climb a production ladder lowered from the ceiling to retrieve the titles.
The win puts to rest recent speculation about the team’s future. In late June, Matt Hardy suggested that if he and his brother did not win the championship at the event, “maybe it’s time for the Hardys to call it a career.”
Following their championship victory, the celebration was interrupted by the arrival of Bully Ray. On behalf of Team 3D, he challenged the new champions to one final encounter. He proposed “one last great tag team match” between the iconic teams to take place at Bound For Glory.
TNA Wrestling has scheduled Bound for Glory for October 12 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts.
