Brie Bella Blames AEW for Preventing Her WWE Return

Brie Bella states her husband Bryan Danielson's role in AEW is the main roadblock preventing her from returning to a WWE ring.

Brie Bella Blames AEW for Preventing Her WWE Return

Brie Bella has directly addressed the primary obstacle preventing a return to WWE, identifying her husband Bryan Danielson’s position with rival promotion AEW as the main complication.

Speaking on The Nikki and Brie Show, she explained that while she often jokes about “waiting on the call” in interviews, the reality of the situation is more complex. She acknowledged that Danielson’s prominent role in a competing company creates an uncomfortable dynamic for some within WWE.

“But I know my roadblock is the fact that my husband is with the rival company. And, you know, for some people it makes them uncomfortable at WWE thinking I’d be there when my husband is with AEW,” Brie stated.

Despite her desire to return to the ring, Bella expressed an understanding of the business and political sensitivities involved. She clarified that while the situation is disappointing, it doesn’t leave her with any resentment toward the company.

“And you know what? That’s okay. People have the right to feel. If they feel uncomfortable, they feel uncomfortable. Does it bum me out sometimes that I wish their feelings were different? Absolutely. But it doesn’t make me angry or bitter,” she added.

This admission provides context for her recent absence from WWE Evolution II in Atlanta. Although there was speculation she would join her sister Nikki, who is actively competing, Brie confirmed she was not present. She noted that while she “yearned” to be there, the ongoing issue related to her husband’s employment, combined with her family priorities, kept her away.

While creative discussions for a Bella Twins reunion have reportedly taken place within WWE, Brie clarified she has not been officially contacted for a comeback. Her last in-ring performance was at the 2022 Royal Rumble, and her WWE contract expired in 2023.
