The July 28 episode of WWE RAW at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena took an unexpected turn when two versions of El Grande Americano interfered in Judgment Day’s WWE Tag Team Championship defense against the LWO. The double appearance deepened the mystery surrounding the character just days before SummerSlam.
The first El Grande Americano, identified by his height and striking style as Ludwig Kaiser, entered during the match but was quickly chased off by Dragon Lee. Moments later, a second, noticeably shorter masked figure jumped the barricade, distracting the LWO long enough for Judgment Day to retain their titles.
WWE’s commentary team immediately noted the discrepancy. “That’s not the same man… who is this?” Michael Cole questioned on air. Corey Graves added, “We’ve got a new mystery on our hands.”
No confirmation has been provided regarding the second performer’s identity. The original El Grande Americano, Chad Gable, publicly acknowledged his tenure under the mask on July 28 but remains sidelined after shoulder surgery. Since Gable’s injury, Kaiser has assumed the role, maintaining the character’s WWE Speed Championship reign and cross-promotional involvement with AAA.
The dual appearance marks the latest wrinkle in WWE’s ongoing narrative for the masked persona, ensuring speculation will dominate discussions heading into SummerSlam weekend.
