The WWE Speed program, which aired exclusively on X, appears to have ended after weeks of inactivity and silence from the company. According to a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has not taped new episodes recently and the show’s championships have disappeared from view.
The final episode of the five-minute match series aired on July 9, and since then, there has been no official communication regarding its status. This lack of information extends internally, suggesting the project was not a high priority.
“Those we’ve asked haven’t known one way or the other basically giving the impressions it was so insignificant that nobody has talked about it. There was no official word one way or the other,” Meltzer stated.
The abrupt halt has led to speculation that the show’s contract with X may have expired. At the time of the hiatus, El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) held the Men’s Speed Championship, and Sol Ruca was the Women’s Speed Champion.
The discontinuation of the show would also reduce WWE’s total number of active titles.
“If you take away the Speed titles, that would leave WWE with 21 championships once the ID champions are crowned,” Meltzer added, noting only 19 of those would likely be featured on television.
For now, the future of WWE Speed remains uncertain, but the current signs point toward the show having already run its course.
