Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio has issued a direct challenge to John Cena, inviting the wrestling legend to pursue the one championship that has eluded him throughout his career. Mysterio, who captured the title in a Fatal-4-Way at WrestleMania 41, stated that if Cena wants to complete his Grand Slam quest before retiring, he knows where to find him.
Speaking on The Rap On Wrestling Podcast, Mysterio used Cena’s own catchphrase to issue the challenge. “I mean, he can try. What’s that thing he says? You want some? Come get some,” Mysterio said. “You know what, John? You know where I’m at. If you want to finish your Grand Slam quest, these little side quests you’re on, I’m here all day. Every Monday, you know where I’ll be.”
Mysterio’s public challenge introduces another potential high-profile match to John Cena’s already evolving retirement tour. WWE recently altered Cena’s schedule, canceling appearances in Orlando, Dallas, and Oklahoma City to accommodate a match against Brock Lesnar at WrestlePalooza on September 20. This booking change also led to the company shelving previous plans for a final encounter between Cena and AJ Styles.
The bout with Lesnar is just one of several major commitments filling Cena’s final months in the ring. He is already scheduled to face Logan Paul at WWE Clash in Paris and recently sparked rumors of a potential tag team reunion with Randy Orton after posting a captionless photo of his former rival on social media.
While multiple opponents now line up for his farewell run, Cena’s definitive final match is officially scheduled for December 13, 2025. The farewell bout will take place at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Boston, located near his hometown of West Newbury, Massachusetts.
