Major Eight-Man Tag Team Match Added to AEW Dynamite

Tony Khan has announced a new match for tonight's show in Philadelphia, pitting members of the Don Callis Family against a team led by ROH World Champion Bandido just days before Death Before Dishonour.

Major Eight-Man Tag Team Match Added to AEW Dynamite

The match serves as an immediate preview for a championship encounter this Friday. Hechicero is set to challenge Bandido for the ROH World Championship at Death Before Dishonour, which will also emanate from the 2300 Arena.

This new addition brings the total number of announced matches for tonight’s event to four. The show also marks the beginning of AEW’s residency in the historic former ECW Arena.

One of the night’s most anticipated contests is a Falls Count Anywhere match between Darby Allin and Claudio Castagnoli. The match is a continuation of Allin’s war against the Death Riders faction following his return from Mount Everest.

Fellow Death Riders member Jon Moxley is also slated for action, facing former TNT Champion Daniel Garcia in a singles match.

In the women’s division, Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford will team up to face the duo of Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron. This tag team match follows the All-Star 8-Woman Tag Team Match that took place at Forbidden Door.

The updated card for tonight’s AEW Dynamite is as follows:

  • Falls Count Anywhere: Darby Allin vs. Claudio Castagnoli
  • Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford vs. Kris Statlander & Harley Cameron
  • Jon Moxley vs. Daniel Garcia
  • Brody King, Bandido, & JetSpeed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) vs. Kazuchika Okada, Hechicero, Konosuke Takeshita, & Josh Alexander

Additionally, a title celebration for Mercedes Moné was teased during the Forbidden Door post-show media scrum but has not been officially announced for tonight’s broadcast.

Outside the venue, the IATSE Local 8 union has stated its intention to protest the Dynamite taping. This follows a similar demonstration at another AEW event in Philadelphia yesterday. The union claims AEW is not meeting local standards for wages and benefits, a practice they argue threatens the livelihood of all local entertainment workers. As of Wednesday afternoon, All Elite Wrestling has not publicly responded to the planned protest.
