Report Clarifies WWE’s Role in Vince McMahon’s Birthday Party

AEW star Bryan Danielson was not in attendance at Vince McMahon’s recent 80th birthday party, according to a new report from Fightful Select. Key WWE figures such as Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and WWE President Nick Khan were also confirmed to be absent from the private event.

The celebration, held at Gotham Hall in New York City over the August 23-24 weekend, featured a guest list of prominent current and former WWE talent. Attendees included John Cena, The Undertaker, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, and McMahon’s son, Shane McMahon.

Fightful Select clarified that there was no official WWE involvement in the party. Stars who attended the gathering were expected to consider it personal business.

Sources within WWE indicated that many were not surprised by the number of wrestlers who attended, with one individual noting that a lot of people feel they “owe Vince something.” Other talent are reportedly waiting for the full resolution of the Janel Grant legal case before deciding on their association with the former chairman.

Company executives have reportedly expressed no desire to bring McMahon back in any capacity, with no discussions about a potential return. An attendee at the party also remarked that McMahon “looked 80,” appearing more frail and moving slower than in previous years.

The celebration occurs as McMahon continues to face significant legal issues. He is a defendant in a civil lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant alleging sexual assault and trafficking, which led to his resignation from TKO Group Holdings. While a federal criminal investigation concluded without charges in February 2025, other legal matters related to his conduct remain ongoing.
