AEW Dynamite Viewership Declines for August 27 Episode

AEW Dynamite experienced a drop in viewership for its August 27, 2025 broadcast, drawing an average of 558,000 viewers on TBS. According to Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline.com, this figure is down from the 565,000 viewers the show averaged the previous week. The program also saw a decline in the key 18-49 demographic, posting a 0.13 rating, a decrease from the prior week’s 0.16.

This ratings dip occurred despite a broadcast from Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena that featured a major, unannounced return. During a segment where “Hangman” Adam Page was being attacked by the Don Callis Family, Kenny Omega made his return to AEW, rushing the ring to save his former tag team partner and eliciting a massive reaction from the crowd.

The show’s main event was a brutal Falls Count Anywhere match between Darby Allin and Claudio Castagnoli. The contest saw the use of steel chairs and tables, with Castagnoli at one point delivering a gutwrench suplex onto a pile of chairs. Allin ultimately secured the victory with two consecutive Coffin Drops. The celebration was cut short when Allin was attacked from behind by Gabe Kidd, who was quickly joined by Jon Moxley before Allin escaped through the crowd.

The episode also solidified a major match for the upcoming All Out pay-per-view. The show opened with FTR protesting their tag team title loss at Forbidden Door. Their segment was interrupted by Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, who officially reunited to challenge Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler to a match.

Other key results and developments from the broadcast included:

  • The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, Hechicero & Josh Alexander) defeated the team of AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido (Brody King & Bandido) and JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey).
  • Jon Moxley defeated Daniel Garcia by submission.
  • The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata & Powerhouse Hobbs) retained their AEW World Trios Championships against Ricochet & The Gates of Agony.
  • Mercedes Moné held a championship celebration and put all other titleholders in wrestling on notice.
  • Kris Statlander & Harley Cameron defeated Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford.
  • Mark Briscoe issued a challenge to MJF.
