Becky Lynch Recalls Awkward Pre-Fame Encounter With Chris Hemsworth

Becky Lynch revealed a personal story about meeting actor Chris Hemsworth long before either of them achieved global fame. Appearing on What Do You Want To Talk About? With Cody Rhodes, the current Women’s Intercontinental Champion recounted the awkward exchange, which took place while she was working as a flight attendant.

Lynch explained that the encounter happened early one morning at a Crunch Fitness in Chicago during a layover. She recognized Hemsworth from the popular Australian show Home and Away, which aired frequently in her native Ireland. “I was like, you’re Kim from Home and Away,” Lynch recalled, before cringing at her next comment. “And then. Why did I say this? You idiot… I’m like, nobody knows who you are over here.”

According to Lynch, Hemsworth was good-natured about the comment, replying, “Yeah, that’s me,” and noting that she was the first person to recognize him in America. Lynch immediately regretted her blunt statement, adding on the show, “Why did I say that? Why did I say that, you idiot?”

The personal, self-deprecating story offers a different perspective on Lynch, who has been at the center of significant controversy this week following her on-screen actions. Just days ago, the champion drew considerable public backlash for comments made about the late rock legend Ozzy Osbourne during a WWE RAW taping in Birmingham, England.

While portraying her heel character on the August 24th episode of Raw, Lynch antagonized the Birmingham crowd to build her upcoming match against Nikki Bella. Refusing to compete, she stated, “I’m not wrestling in Birmingham. The only good thing that came out of here died a month ago.”

The promo immediately drew boos from the live audience and widespread criticism online, with many labeling the comments as distasteful. The remarks also prompted a fiery response from Ozzy’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, who called Lynch a “disrespectful dirtbag” on Instagram and condemned WWE for the segment.
