WWE Announces Major Change To Tonight’s SmackDown Lineup

WWE has announced a significant change to the lineup for tonight’s SmackDown in Lyon, France, as Piper Niven has been pulled from her scheduled WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match.

In a video announcement released this afternoon, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis stated that Niven is “unavailable tonight.” As a result, Chelsea Green will step in to team with Alba Fyre, collectively known as The Secret Hervice, to challenge champions Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.

The title opportunity was originally secured after Niven pinned Charlotte Flair in a singles match on last week’s episode, thanks to interference from both Green and Fyre. The feud between the two teams began shortly after Flair and Bliss captured the titles at SummerSlam earlier this month.

Tonight’s broadcast from the LDLC Arena is the go-home show for Clash in Paris. The episode is airing live on Netflix for international audiences before its standard 8 p.m. Eastern time slot on the USA Network in the United States.

The updated card for the August 29 episode of SmackDown also includes:

  • An appearance by John Cena
  • Solo Sikoa defending the United States Championship against Sami Zayn
  • The Street Profits vs. Carmelo Hayes & The Miz in a WWE Tag Team title number one contender’s match
  • Michin vs. Kiana James
