Cora Jade Addresses Retirement Talk After WWE Release

Former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Cora Jade is stepping away from the wrestling ring but has made it clear she is not retiring. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, the 24-year-old confirmed she is on an indefinite hiatus following her last match at Prestige Wrestling on July 13.

Jade explained the break is a necessary step to prevent burnout and rekindle her passion for the industry, which she felt was becoming a source of negativity.

“People could think I’m retired, that’s fine, but I have no plans on retiring,” Jade stated. “I’m taking this break. If I wouldn’t have taken this break, yeah, maybe I would have retired because I would have went nuts and, like, went off the rails… I want to love it again the way I did as a kid. I want to feel that again.”

The discussion with TMZ Sports also served as a platform for Jade to publicly address recent bullying allegations made against her. Just over a week ago, former WWE developmental talent Alexis Lete accused Jade of being a “main bully” during their time at the Performance Center, claiming the conflict started after Jade demanded Lete remove a TikTok video.

Jade firmly denied the accusations, framing them as an attempt by Lete to gain relevance. She pointed to her detailed rebuttal on X (formerly Twitter) from last week, where she posted screenshots of their text exchange and argued that Lete had “heat with everyone for being disrespectful.” Jade claimed her text was an attempt to help Lete before her reputation worsened.

“Somebody like that, in my opinion, two and a half years later, you’re reaching for something and saying my name in interviews, and that’s the only time you’ve ever gotten any sort of relevancy,” Jade told TMZ Sports, adding that she had sent a video related to the incident to her lawyer.

Jade, who now wrestles as Elayna Black, was released from WWE on May 2, 2025, ending a four-year run with the company. During her time in NXT, she held the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Roxanne Perez before a storyline feud led to her turning heel on Perez and dropping the title. Her final WWE match in February saw her partnership with Perez dissolve for a second time after Perez abandoned her mid-match. Since her release, Jade has made a few appearances for TNA in addition to her work on the independent circuit.
