WWE Accused of Lying to Fans at Clash in Paris

Following WWE's announcement of a record-breaking crowd at Clash in Paris, new reports indicate the company likely broke the gate record, not the attendance record previously set by Taylor Swift.

WWE Accused of Lying to Fans at Clash in Paris

During its Clash in Paris event, WWE announced it had set a new attendance record for the Paris La Défense Arena with 30,343 fans, claiming to have surpassed a previous record held by pop star Taylor Swift. However, a report from IQ Magazine has brought context to this claim, noting that Swift’s concerts at the venue in May 2024 drew approximately 45,000 people per show. The discrepancy suggests that while WWE’s attendance was lower, the company likely broke the venue’s gate record—the total revenue from ticket sales—due to higher ticket prices for the premium live event.

The announced crowd of 30,343 was a significant part of the event’s story. The Paris audience was described as one of the most energetic in recent memory, creating a loud atmosphere with chants in both French and English throughout the night. The reception for John Cena was particularly strong, as he received a notable ovation for what was presented as his final match in front of a European audience.

The main event saw Seth Rollins retain his World Heavyweight Championship in a Fatal Four-Way match against CM Punk, Jey Uso, and LA Knight. The match’s conclusion came when Becky Lynch, Rollins’s wife, interfered by delivering a low blow to CM Punk, allowing Rollins to secure the victory with a Curb Stomp. Lynch’s actions appeared to confirm her as the first female member of Rollins’s faction, “The Vision.”

Earlier in the show, Roman Reigns defeated Bronson Reed but was attacked by both Reed and Bron Breakker after the match. The segment ended with Reigns being taken from the arena on a stretcher following two spears from Breakker. John Cena also continued his retirement tour with a victory over Logan Paul in a match that featured Cena using the “Styles Clash” maneuver.

Other notable results from Clash in Paris included The Wyatt Sicks retaining the WWE Tag Team Championship against The Street Profits, Becky Lynch defending her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Nikki Bella, and Rusev defeating Sheamus by submission in a Good Old-Fashioned Donnybrook match.
