Oba Femi Vows to Retire John Cena and Randy Orton

NXT Champion Oba Femi has issued a bold challenge to two of WWE’s most established veterans, stating in a new interview with Going Ringside that he is ready to end the careers of both John Cena and Randy Orton. When asked about a potential match with Cena, Femi was direct in his intentions.

“If I could catch John Cena… I’ll put him out, I’ll show him the door, he’s on the way out, so watch your step, you know? I would,” Femi said. He expressed a similar sentiment toward Orton, adding, “I’ll show him the door too. It’s about time. I grew up watching those guys. I think they’ve been on top for a very long time and I think enough is enough. I think it’s time for the new crop of superstars to rise up to the top.”

Femi’s comments about Cena are particularly timely, as the 17-time world champion is currently in the middle of his publicly announced farewell tour. Cena confirmed in July 2024 that 2025 would be his final year of in-ring competition, citing the physical toll of his long career. His last match is scheduled to take place on December 13, 2025, at a Saturday Night’s Main Event.

During the interview, Femi also discussed other potential main roster opponents. He said he would be open to a match with Gunther, but only if the circumstances were right and not simply because of fan demand. “I have to want to fight Gunther. He has to want to fight me. There has to be a good reason,” he explained.

Femi also named CM Punk as another “good one,” noting the intrigue in a clash of styles between his power and Punk’s experience.
