Liv Morgan’s Accused Stalker Requests Prison Release

Shawn Chan, the man accused of stalking WWE's Liv Morgan, has filed a motion requesting his release from jail. This legal development occurs as Morgan remains sidelined with a shoulder injury sustained in June.

Liv Morgan’s Accused Stalker Requests Prison Release

Shawn Chan, the Canadian wrestling fan accused of stalking WWE superstar Liv Morgan, is attempting to secure his release from jail before his criminal trial. According to a report from PWInsider, Chan’s lawyers filed a motion on August 20 requesting his pre-trial release, suggesting he could reside at a Salvation Army facility. Chan is currently being held in Hernando County, Florida, as the court has not yet ruled on the request.

The charges stem from a series of events that took place in late May. After flying from Ontario to Orlando on May 26, Chan traveled to Morgan’s home four days later. Court documents describe him circling the property, entering her backyard, and attempting to gain entry through the front door. He was also seen picking up an air pellet from her porch and waiting outside for several hours before leaving a note. The note read:

It’s me Shawn, the guy you all play with online. You’ve been trying to reach me when I wasn’t in the game. So who’s the stalker? I never did anything bad for over 10 years, but you still hate me. I came here just for a friendly visit, nothing more. Yet I look like the stalker thanks to you. I won’t care about any of you anymore. I’ll start saying and doing whatever I want. I just wanted you to know I was here.

After reviewing security footage from Morgan’s home, WWE security identified Chan and alerted the FBI, leading to his arrest on June 3. He was formally charged on June 25 and is facing up to five years in prison if convicted.

This legal situation is unfolding while Liv Morgan is off WWE television for unrelated reasons. Morgan has been out of action since the June 16 episode of Monday Night Raw, where she suffered a dislocated shoulder during a match against Kairi Sane that required surgery. She is currently in rehabilitation, with reports suggesting an expected return to the ring in early 2026, potentially around the Royal Rumble on January 6.

Her extended absence is also by design. A report from Fightful Select in late August revealed that WWE can freeze a superstar’s contract for the duration of an injury, which would not be possible if they were used in a non-wrestling capacity. The company also reportedly prefers to keep talent off-screen during long recoveries to make their eventual return more impactful. This strategy, however, was recently questioned by former WWE writer Vince Russo, who argued that keeping Morgan on television would have maintained her character’s momentum.

In her absence, a new storyline has emerged involving her on-screen partner, Dominik Mysterio, and Roxanne Perez. This development creates a clear narrative path for Morgan’s return, likely positioning her as a babyface against Perez and Mysterio. Before her injury, Morgan was enjoying a successful “Revenge Tour” and was one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions with Raquel Rodriguez.
