WWE Star Says Nobody Cared About Austin Theory’s Win Over John Cena

In early August, Austin Theory was quietly moved from WWE’s internal active roster to its injured list, leaving his status uncertain. While his tag team partner Grayson Waller had announced on the July 21st edition of Raw that their team was finished due to an injury to Theory, details have remained scarce. Now, Waller has broken his silence, offering a scathing assessment of his former partner.

Speaking on the RAW Recap, Waller made it clear he is pleased to be working alone.

“I’ve got rid of the dead weight of Austin Theory and this is the best I’ve ever felt in my life,” Waller stated. “Do you know how hard it is to deal with someone with an IQ of 65? That might be high. I saw him on the plane. He said, ‘I read a really good book.’ He was reading The Cat in the Hat, and he was struggling. He was on each page for at least 12 minutes trying to work out the words.”

Waller’s comments didn’t stop at personal insults. He claimed responsibility for any success Theory has had, referencing a specific moment from Theory’s past.

“You know what Austin Theory never did? He never said thank you to me for saving his career. You remember that time John Cena buried him live on national television? I remember that,” Waller said. “I watched Theory beat John Cena and no one cared, and I was like, I know how to make an impact on the main roster. I’m gonna save Austin Theory’s career, and that’s exactly what I did. He’s never been more relevant than when he was with Grayson Waller.”

The duo, known as “A-Town Down Under,” formed in the fall of 2023. Their peak came at WrestleMania XL, where they captured the WWE Tag Team Championships in a Six-Pack Ladder Match. Their reign lasted 90 days before they lost the titles to #DIY. Following a move to Raw, the team’s momentum slowed, with their last televised match together occurring on the June 26, 2025, edition of Main Event. Theory’s last recorded match was a loss on a Main Event taping on July 14.

Waller concluded his verbal assault by expressing a sense of freedom and readiness for a future confrontation.

“I feel like I’ve been set free… I just have to worry about me,” he said. “If he comes back, we’ll have words. I’ve got no problem saying that to his face if he can understand. I’ll have to talk really slow.” (quotes courtesy of Andrew Thompson)
