WWE Accidentally Confirms AJ Lee’s Return

A now-deleted post from the official WWE Shop X account has confirmed AJ Lee's return to the ring, stating new merchandise is planned for her upcoming appearance at the Wrestlepalooza premium live event.

WWE Accidentally Confirms AJ Lee’s Return

The official WWE Shop social media account has accidentally confirmed that AJ Lee will be returning to a WWE ring this month. In a since-deleted reply to a fan inquiry on X about the availability of her merchandise, the account spoiled the comeback by referencing her return and new apparel for the upcoming Wrestlepalooza event.

The post stated, “With AJ Lee’s return to the ring, we are looking to have some 🔥 gear hopefully in time for Wrestlepalooza.”

This premature confirmation solidifies reports that Lee is scheduled to compete in a mixed tag team match at the September 20th premium live event. She will reportedly team with her husband, CM Punk, to face the duo of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.

The matchup is a direct consequence of recent events, specifically Lynch’s interference at Clash in Paris, where she delivered a low blow to Punk that allowed Rollins to retain his World Heavyweight Championship.

Lee’s return marks her first match in over a decade, as she retired in March 2015 due to permanent damage to her cervical spine.

While the WWE Shop post confirmed the immediate plans, reports indicate the company is hopeful Lee’s return will extend beyond a single match. There is said to be significant excitement backstage, with many of the women on the roster looking forward to the possibility of working with the former three-time Divas Champion.

Lee, an instrumental “anti-diva” figure who helped pave the way for the Women’s Revolution, may not be off-screen for long. Sources have heavily implied that a reference to her, or even an appearance, could happen on this week’s episode of SmackDown.
