CM Punk added a significant piece to the puzzle of his wife’s potential WWE return, posting a cryptic image to his Instagram stories. The post featured the cartoon character Hot Stuff The Little Devil aiming his sickle alongside the caption, “Okay…you asked for it.” This is the latest in a series of social media teases from Punk, who has previously used the platform to hint at major career moves.
The post lands amidst a flurry of activity suggesting a return for AJ Lee is imminent. The speculation intensified following a now-deleted post from the official WWE Shop X account on September 3. In response to a fan question about Lee’s merchandise, the account stated, “With AJ Lee’s return to the ring, we are looking to have some [fire emoji] gear hopefully in time for Wrestlepalooza.”

This social media activity appears to be building towards a specific match. Reports indicate that WWE is planning for Lee to make her in-ring comeback at the Wrestlepalooza premium live event on September 20. Her last WWE match occurred in March 2015.
The planned contest is reportedly a mixed tag team match pitting Lee and CM Punk against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. This booking stems directly from the conclusion of Clash in Paris on August 31, where Lynch interfered and delivered a low blow to Punk, allowing Rollins to retain his title in a four-way match.
While WWE has not officially confirmed her return, backstage reports suggest there is considerable excitement within the locker room for Lee’s comeback. There are also indications the company hopes this will be more than a one-time appearance.
All eyes now turn to this Friday’s SmackDown, which is scheduled to take place in CM Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois, as a potential venue for the next development.
