WWE Cancels Major September Event

The WWE Draft, which had been rumored for a September date, has been canceled, according to a report from BodySlam.Net. The company’s immediate priority has shifted to the upcoming Wrestlepalooza premium live event, scheduled to take place in less than three weeks. This has resulted in the postponement of other significant plans for the month as WWE prepares for its first event on ESPN.

This cancellation formalizes a recent trend of gradual roster adjustments over a full-scale shake-up. In place of a draft, WWE has utilized a “Transfer Window” system established before June 2025, allowing general managers to facilitate trades between brands. This approach has already seen LA Knight move to RAW and Sami Zayn shift to SmackDown, while recent NXT talents like Giulia and Roxanne Perez have also been integrated into the main roster.

Roman Reigns has also been appearing on RAW recently, crossing brand lines to advance his current feud with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

The plan to hold the draft in September was a strategic departure from its traditional post-WrestleMania timeframe, which was used in 2023 and 2024. The move was initially intended to align with the fall television season premieres and provide a “clean reset” for rosters after major summer storylines concluded at SummerSlam and Clash in Paris.

With the draft now off the table, all focus moves to Wrestlepalooza on September 20, 2025, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event marks the first time the ECW-themed show will be held under the WWE banner since 2000. One match has been announced for the card: Stephanie Vaquer will face IYO SKY to crown a new Women’s World Champion.
