Former WWE Writer Criticizes Rhea Ripley Over ‘Unsettling’ Fan Incident

Former WWE writer Vince Russo has stated that the recent fan mobbing incident involving Rhea Ripley was an avoidable situation. Speaking on his Writing with Russo show, Russo shifted the focus from fan conduct to Ripley’s transportation arrangements, questioning why a star of her caliber was not utilizing company resources for her safety.

The incident occurred in late August in Paris, where Ripley was present for WWE programming ahead of the Clash in Paris premium live event. While attempting to enter a rideshare vehicle, the WWE Superstar was swarmed by a large group of fans, who pushed her against the car door.

Following the encounter, Ripley addressed the issue on social media, asking for fans to be more considerate. She stated that “no one should ever be pushed up against a uber drivers door and completely mobbed” and urged people to use “common courtesy and humanity.” Fellow superstar CM Punk also commented on the broader issue, posting a public plea to “Stop touching strangers.”

Russo, however, proposed a logistical solution, placing the responsibility on Ripley’s travel choices. He detailed his perspective on why the scenario should never have occurred.

“First of all, why are you taking an Uber,” Russo stated. “Okay, I am sure there are at least, there are probably at least, at least 25 office people there. At least 25 office people there. Ask somebody from the office to pick you up… Why in God’s name are you taking an Uber in a foreign land?”
