WWE Planning To Extend AJ Styles–Dominik Mysterio Feud Through AAA Worlds Collide

The feud between AJ Styles and Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio is set to continue, according to a report from PWInsider. WWE Creative plans to extend the ongoing title program through the upcoming AAA Worlds Collide pay-per-view. This development comes after Styles suffered another defeat to Mysterio this past Monday in Paris.

For months, the former WWE Champion has been a persistent challenger for Mysterio’s title, a prize Styles is determined to capture in what he considers the twilight of his career. The program’s continuation points toward the AAA Worlds Collide event on September 12, where Dominik Mysterio is scheduled to challenge El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship. The report suggests a potential interference from The Phenomenal One is not out of the realm of possibility.

This potential appearance in Las Vegas follows a pivotal and contentious chapter in their rivalry that unfolded internationally. On the September 1 episode of Monday Night Raw from the Paris La Défense Arena, Mysterio retained his Intercontinental Championship against Styles after a masked individual, El Grande Americano, emerged from under the ring.

El Grande Americano grabbed Styles’s leg as he prepared for the Phenomenal Forearm, then delivered a headbutt that incapacitated him. This allowed Mysterio to hit a Frog Splash and secure the pinfall for his fifth successful title defense.

The controversial finish was the second time Mysterio has defeated Styles under questionable circumstances, following a previous encounter at SummerSlam. Earlier in the Paris match, Styles had successfully executed a Styles Clash, but Mysterio managed to get his boot on the bottom rope to break the pin attempt. The bout began with Mysterio launching a pre-match attack on Styles, a tactic that occurred even with The Judgment Day banned from ringside by WWE official Adam Pearce.
