Cody Rhodes Reacts To Major Announcement Involving Roman Reigns

Cody Rhodes has officially confirmed his casting as Guile in the live-action Street Fighter film, placing the Undisputed WWE Champion in a project alongside his former rival, Roman Reigns, who will portray the character Akuma. Rhodes acknowledged the movie’s announced October 16, 2026, release date in a social media post.

Production on the Legendary, Sony, and Capcom collaborative project is the cited reason for both performers’ current hiatus from WWE programming. Filming commenced in Australia in early September 2025, with overlapping schedules that see Reigns on set until September 26 and Rhodes’ work concluding by September 20.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film is set in 1993 and centers on the World Warrior Tournament. The plot follows fighters Ryu and Ken as they are recruited by Chun-Li and subsequently uncover a conspiracy.

The cast also includes Jason Momoa as Blanka, Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Hirooki Goto as E. Honda.
