What does the end of one family business mean for the start of another? For Tony D’Angelo, the apparent dissolution of his NXT stable may be the precursor to a move to WWE’s main roster. His name has recently been raised in creative meetings as a talent expected to be called up to either Raw or SmackDown, according to a WrestleVotes Radio report.
The core of his “legitimate businessman” persona is anticipated to remain intact for the transition. However, the character is expected to undergo slight refinements before a main roster debut.
D’Angelo’s long-running mobster gimmick, a staple of his four-year NXT tenure, recently reached a narrative crossroads. In his final appearance on the July 29 episode, a cinematic vignette showed him at a restaurant renouncing his title as “The Don,” hinting at a character shift just before an ambiguous fade-to-black ending.
This televised exit is now understood to be the setup for his main roster transition. Reports indicate the expectation within WWE is for the 30-year-old to debut on Raw or SmackDown before the end of 2025, following the conclusion of his storyline in NXT.
The move is supported by a strong internal reputation. D’Angelo is reportedly viewed as having a standout work ethic and personality, is considered easy to work with, and is receptive to feedback. During his time in NXT, he captured the North American, Heritage Cup, and Tag Team Championships.
