Wrestling veteran Vince Russo believes WWE is in “grave danger” of legal action. The risk stems from the recent off-script assault by Raja Jackson at a KnokX Pro Wrestling show. Russo stated on his podcast, Vince Russo’s The Brand, that WWE’s prior support of the promotion creates liability.
The incident in question occurred last month. Raja Jackson attacked an unconscious Stuart “Syko Stu” Smith after a hard takedown. Following the assault, WWE immediately severed its affiliation with the wrestling school.
Russo argued that this separation may not protect the company from litigation.
“Guys, I said this all along: if Skyo Stu lawyers up, the right lawyer hooks up with him,” Russo said. “Bro, the dude’s going to sue everybody, including the WWE. There is no question about that because they are sponsoring this school. They are supporting this school. They would be involved in a freaking lawsuit. No question about it.”
The severity of the situation is underscored by an ongoing investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department is now treating the August 23rd attack as a felony battery case. KnokX Pro Wrestling has publicly condemned Jackson’s actions as a “selfish, irresponsible act of viol—nce.”
Smith was released from the hospital in late August. He is now recovering at home from serious injuries, which included a head injury, broken facial bones, and lost teeth.
Russo believes WWE is maintaining silence in hopes the issue fades. “WWE has laid really, really low and has not said one single word about it and is hoping it goes away,” he concluded.
