A WWE NXT live event in Spartanburg, South Carolina on September 5th featured multiple surprise appearances from main roster talent. Grayson Waller, Rusev, Raquel Rodriguez, and Roxanne Perez were all in action at what was presented as a standard house show.
In the main event, Oba Femi successfully defended the NXT Championship against Grayson Waller. The night was heavy on title defenses, as Trick Williams also retained the TNA World Championship in a match against Shiloh Hill.
The NXT Tag Team Championships were on the line in a triple threat match that saw DarkState (Dion Lennox & Osiris Griffin) defeat The LWO and the team of Hank & Tank. In another title bout, Dragon Lee defeated Ethan Page by disqualification, allowing Lee to retain the NXT North American Championship.
Elsewhere on the card, Rusev competed in a singles match, losing to Ricky Saints. The event also saw main roster talents Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez team up to defeat the duo of NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca and Zaria.
These appearances by established main roster competitors at an NXT live event highlight the increasing crossover between WWE’s brands.
The show took place at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, giving the audience a card with stakes that went well beyond a typical non-televised event.
