AEW President Tony Khan has officially announced that Bryan Danielson will join the AEW Dynamite commentary team on a full-time basis, starting with this Wednesday’s broadcast.
The move provides a formal role for Danielson, who has not been an active in-ring talent for almost a year while navigating significant neck injuries. He has made occasional appearances on AEW television as part of the commentary team during this period.
Although Danielson got physical during an appearance at AEW All In in Texas this past July, he later clarified that he is “not back” as a full-time competitor. He also admitted that some of the moves he performed were not medically cleared, stating that his doctor thought he was “an idiot” for doing them.
This transition to a permanent broadcast position aligns with Danielson’s recent statements about having fulfilled his career goals. He recently revealed he has effectively completed his wrestling “bucket list,” which was primarily focused on his work with Lucha Libre legend Blue Panther.
His match at WrestleDream in October 2024, where he challenged for the AEW World Championship, was previously billed as his last as a full-time performer.
In the official announcement on Twitter, Tony Khan stated: “Starting this Wednesday, @bryandanielson The American Dragon will join the Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite commentary team full-time! Welcome back Bryan on Dynamite this Wednesday Night, + See you on @TNTdrama And/or HBO Max 8pm ET/7pm CT For Saturday Night #AEWCollision TONIGHT!!”
