WWE has made it official: John Cena will face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza on September 20. The company’s preview for the premium live event confirms the match includes a “One last time” stipulation, signaling this will be the final singles match between the two rivals. The event is scheduled to take place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The confirmation follows a chaotic sequence of events on the September 5 episode of SmackDown in Chicago.
During what was billed as his final appearance on the brand, Cena accepted an open challenge from United States Champion Sami Zayn. The two engaged in a competitive title match that saw both men kick out of multiple finishers. Cena was on the verge of winning after an avalanche Attitude Adjustment when Lesnar interfered.
This confrontation is a direct escalation of a feud that reignited at SummerSlam 2025, where Lesnar returned after nearly two years away to attack Cena following his Undisputed Championship match against Cody Rhodes.
Their last one-on-one encounter was at Night of Champions 2014, a match Lesnar won. Across their careers, Lesnar holds a 4-2 advantage over Cena in singles competition.
Wrestlepalooza itself marks a return, as it is the first time WWE has used the event name since it was last held under the ECW banner in 2000.
