Tag Team Championship Match Set for Next WWE NXT

NXT General Manager Ava has officially set a championship match for the September 9 episode of WWE NXT. The NXT Tag Team Champions, DarkState, will defend their titles against the team of Hank Walker and Tank Ledger. The announcement was later confirmed by Shawn Michaels on social media.

This title defense comes as a direct result of the events from the September 2 episode, where Walker and Ledger scored a non-title victory over the champions, setting them up as the immediate top contenders.

While Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin currently hold the championship gold, it has not been confirmed if DarkState will utilize the Freebird Rule for this defense. The stable also includes members Cutler James and Saquon Shugars.

The championship bout is part of a loaded card for the upcoming broadcast on The CW. The show is also scheduled to feature a Flag Match between Ethan Page and Tavion Heights, and Je’Von Evans will face Josh Briggs in a singles match.

Additionally, the women’s division will be highlighted in two key matches. Faby Apache is set to take on Lainey Reid in the WWE Speed Women’s Title Number One Contenders Tournament. A Women’s Tag Team Elimination Match will also take place, featuring Fatal Influence, The Culling, and the team of ZaRuca. The show will also include a segment with Trick Williams and DIY.
