Roxanne Perez has labeled AJ Lee’s recent WWE return as the greatest in wrestling history. Responding to a post on X about Lee’s appearance on the September 5 episode of SmackDown, Perez made her stance clear. “AJ Lee’s return is the best return period, regardless of sex,” she stated, elevating the moment above all other comebacks.
Lee’s return happened during the final segment of Friday Night SmackDown, where she confronted Becky Lynch after Lynch had slapped CM Punk. The segment concluded with Lee holding the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. The appearance, her first in WWE since 2015, generated a major backstage reaction, with numerous superstars gathering at the entryway in a “curtain sellout” to watch it live.
For Perez, the moment carries deep personal significance. She has frequently cited Lee as a primary influence on her career, once dressing as the former champion for Halloween and attending events to support her. Perez has also previously stated she could not retire without first having a match against her idol.
