Chris Jericho, who is currently on hiatus from AEW, was recently seen in public with WWE personality Mike Rome. The two were spotted together at the Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights event in Hollywood. This appearance comes as talk continues regarding Jericho’s future in the wrestling industry.
The sighting adds another layer to the ongoing situation surrounding Jericho, who has been absent from AEW television since April. His extended break has intensified discussions about his contract, which is reportedly set to expire at the end of 2025.
Reports have indicated that WWE has significant interest in bringing Jericho back should he become a free agent. The speculation was further amplified in August when Jericho liked an Instagram post that mentioned his contract status and a potential WWE return.
“The best thing that can happen in wrestling is AEW, and the fact that there’s two huge promotions that you can choose from just makes it better for the guys, it makes it better for the fans and everybody in between, so I’m not going anywhere for a while. I’m still with AEW for right now. Would I go back to WWE? I wouldn’t be opposed to it, we just have to see what happens, but the best thing that can happen is you have two great teams that you can play for, and that just makes everything bigger and more exciting.”
While some within AEW reportedly believe Jericho will not re-sign with the company, sources from WWE stated in late August that it was “far too early to tell” if a deal could be made. The same sources noted that Jericho’s name had not yet been raised in creative discussions, though some speculation points to a potential appearance in the 2026 Royal Rumble.
