Christian Cage has put a timeline on his reunion with Adam Copeland, stating their current tag team in AEW has no long-term guarantees. During an appearance on Yahoo Sports Uncrowned, Cage explained that the partnership is a temporary agreement focused on resolving their immediate problems.
He laid out the terms of their deal, which comes as the pair heads toward a major match against FTR at AEW All Out on September 20.
“Cope and I agreed to help each other with our issues. Part of the agreement was we’ll get through this, and there’s no promises beyond that,” Cage said. “We’ll see where we get to at the end of this.” (h/t Yahoo Sports Uncrowned)
Beyond the current alliance, Cage made it clear that his individual goals remain his top priority, specifically capturing the one title that has eluded him in the company.
“At the end of the day, I still want my name in the books as the AEW world champ by the time it’s all said and done,” he stated.
The reunion began after Copeland told Cage to “find himself” at AEW All In: Texas, which led to the team reforming after Nick Wayne attacked Copeland. Their first match back together in 14 years was a victory over Kip Sabian and Killswitch at Forbidden Door in August.
