WWE Hall of Famer JBL has taken direct aim at recent comments from Ronda Rousey, calling her criticism of a past feud with Alexa Bliss “naive” and “disrespectful.” Speaking on his Something to Wrestle With podcast, JBL stated that Rousey’s perspective shows she “obviously doesn’t understand business.”
The Hall of Famer’s critique was a response to Rousey’s recent interview where she described her 2018 program with Bliss as “f—king ridiculous,” claiming the spot was only given to Bliss due to her high merchandise sales. This take had already drawn fire from WWE personality Peter Rosenberg, who labeled it “overtly disrespectful.”
JBL sided with Rosenberg and elaborated on the business logic, questioning why a top star wouldn’t want to work with the biggest earner. “I think it’s just naive, is what it is… She obviously doesn’t understand business,” JBL said. “Who do you want to fight? You want to find a guy who can’t sell a t-shirt? Are you going to find the number one merch guy, and I don’t give a damn who he is.”
JBL concluded by questioning Rousey’s motives for publicly criticizing a current performer. “I don’t understand… why you’ve got this Hall of Fame career… why are you embarrassing like Alexa, who’s still making a living, you just bash this person that’s making a living and try to discredit her, because it gets you a few clicks,” he stated. “That is a professional. And, unfortunately, I guess Ronda had a different thought about the business.”
