Grayson Waller has escalated his on-screen rivalry with Penta, using a recent podcast appearance to launch a scathing critique of his rival and the entire Lucha Libre wrestling style. Speaking on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, Waller did not hold back, labeling the masked luchador an “absolute flop” and exactly “what’s wrong with wrestling.”
The criticism expanded beyond just his current foe, as Waller claimed that Lucha Libre wrestlers in general are “out of shape” and avoid going to the gym. The harsh words add a personal edge to their ongoing program, which has seen Penta defeat Waller in a one-on-one match on Raw in previous weeks.
According to Waller, his faction with The New Day is on a mission. “I hate that we’re stuck in this thing with Penta, but he’s a very dangerous man,” Waller stated. “As The New, we’re here to save wrestling. We’re here to save wrestling from the Destroyer. We’re here to save wrestling from Lucha.”
Heated Words Follow In-Ring Action
Waller’s verbal attacks are the latest chapter in a feud that has seen his group repeatedly target Penta. On the September 8 edition of Monday Night Raw, the faction’s interference played a decisive role in Penta’s match against Rusev.
During the bout, a distraction from Waller and The New Day at ringside pulled Penta’s focus, allowing Rusev to capitalize and secure the victory. The interference notably came after Penta unsuccessfully attempted a Mexican Destroyer, a move that Waller has specifically railed against as part of his crusade.
Waller’s scathing podcast comments provide a clear mission statement for the in-ring interference he and The New Day have been running on Penta. This crusade already cost the luchador a victory against Rusev, confirming their deeply personal rivalry is set to continue on WWE programming.
