Rey Mysterio is officially set to return this Friday for the special WWE and Lucha Libre AAA Worlds Collide event. The confirmation came directly from Triple H, who shared a promotional poster for the show that prominently features the legendary luchador front and center.
While Mysterio is not currently advertised to compete, his presence looms large over the card. The WWE Hall of Famer has been engaged in an unsettled rivalry with his son, Dominik Mysterio, who is scheduled for a major title match on the show. The potential for Rey to get involved in Dominik’s bout against El Hijo del Vikingo is high.
That match carries significant weight, as it is a rematch from Triplemanía XXXIII where Dominik challenged Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship. Interference from AJ Styles ultimately cost the younger Mysterio a victory in that encounter, adding another layer of intrigue to the high-stakes sequel in Las Vegas.
The confirmation ends a period where Rey has been mostly absent from WWE programming, making only intermittent appearances for both WWE and AAA. His last notable showing was at AAA TripleMania, where he addressed the live crowd about the possibility of bringing Alberto Del Rio back to WWE.
