Reason Behind WWE Canceling Major Segment on RAW Revealed

The planned WWE Raw contract signing between Stephanie Vaquer and IYO SKY was abruptly canceled this week after Vaquer was sidelined with what is being described as a minor injury. The segment was intended to build toward their match for the vacant Women’s World Championship at Wrestlepalooza on September 20.

On Raw, General Manager Adam Pearce informed viewers that despite the cancellation, he fully expects Vaquer to be ready for the upcoming premium live event. The title was previously vacated by Naomi in August following her pregnancy announcement.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the company was initially uncertain about the injury’s severity but has since confirmed it is not serious. “She has a minor injury, that’s the situation,” Meltzer stated. “I was told by WWE that it’s a minor thing, it’s nothing to worry about, and she’s gonna be doing matches going forward. It came right from the company.”

Reinforcing that her schedule remains active, WWE has booked Vaquer for a match on the September 16 episode of NXT Homecoming. She is still slated to face IYO SKY at Wrestlepalooza in Indianapolis, where a new Women’s World Champion will be crowned. “Whatever happened, she got cleared (for next week’s NXT), and that’s the deal,” Meltzer added.
