A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter details negotiations for The Rock to headline WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia against Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns.

The Rock Could Face Roman Reigns or Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 43

A potential blockbuster main event for WrestleMania 43 is reportedly in the works, with Saudi officials negotiating for an in-ring return for The Rock. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the push is to have “The Final Boss” headline the 2027 event, which is expected to be hosted in Saudi Arabia.

The report identifies both Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns as the two potential opponents for The Brahma Bull. This follows The Rock’s last official match at WrestleMania XL, where he teamed with Reigns to face Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

His most recent appearance was at this year’s Elimination Chamber, where he oversaw John Cena’s heel turn and attack on Rhodes. A match with Rhodes would capitalize on their intense feud from earlier this year, while a bout with Reigns offers a generational family clash.

The Record-Setting Financials

The negotiations, driven by the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA), could lead to a historic payday for the superstar. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer noted that sources close to the GEA claim “negotiations for Dwayne Johnson were advancing” and that “the deal was close to being finalized.”

The proposed payment for Johnson would be several times larger than any single-event payout in wrestling history. While Meltzer acknowledged the possibility of this being “billionaire fantasy booking,” as WWE has not confirmed the talks, he believes there’s a “good chance” the match happens.
