Any speculation about WWE running two separate WrestleMania events in 2027 can now be put to rest, and it appears the reason comes directly from the ambitions of the host nation.
WWE has officially announced that WrestleMania 43 will be a single event held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. According to a new report from Fightful Select, the Saudi government made it clear they wanted a proper WrestleMania, dismissing earlier reports from this year that suggested a two-show plan involving one event in the U.S. and another abroad. The move marks the first time the company’s biggest show of the year will take place outside of North America.
This push for an exclusive event is reportedly being matched by an ambitious talent wishlist. A report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio indicates that Saudi Arabia is aiming to bring several names out of retirement for in-ring returns, including “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, and The Rock.
The report highlights a particular focus on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Meltzer states that the hosts are prepared to make “the biggest offer in wrestling history” to secure him for a single match, fueling the long-rumored match against his cousin, Roman Reigns.
