The second chapter of Andrade’s WWE career has come to an abrupt end after less than a year, but a new report suggests a return to AEW may still be possible.
Speculation began today when Andrade’s profile was moved to the alumni section of WWE’s official website, with a subsequent report from Fightful Select confirming he is no longer with the company. The news explains his absence from last night’s SmackDown, where his recent tag team partner, Rey Fenix, challenged for the United States Championship without him.
According to AEW sources via Fightful Select, the door for an Andrade comeback remains open. This comes despite his departure from the promotion in December 2023, when he backed out of a long-term contract extension at the last minute, forcing changes to creative plans.
The report notes that AEW’s stance is that no bridges were burned. Company President Tony Khan supported this publicly, stating at the AEW Worlds End post-show press conference that they parted on good terms.
Andrade’s latest WWE tenure began with his return at the 2024 Royal Rumble. A storyline involving the LWO and his former manager Zelina Vega did not lead to a singles run, with his last major match being the tag team championship ladder match at SummerSlam.
