Maxwell Jacob Friedman’s arrogance may have just written a check his body can’t cash. After granting Mark Briscoe the right to pick the stipulation for their upcoming match at All Out, MJF is now facing a particularly brutal and old-school fight.
During last night’s episode of AEW Collision, Briscoe officially named the terms for their September 20 bout: a No Disqualification Tables and Thumbtacks match. In a promo filmed at the historic 2300 Arena, Briscoe cited watching Sabu put people through tables as his inspiration for the first part of the stipulation. As for the second, he added that because MJF is such a p—k, he decided to add “tens of thousands” of thumbtacks into the mix.
The challenge came after MJF cut a promo explaining that his attack on Briscoe last week, which cost him a TNT Title shot, was simply an “eye for an eye” situation stemming from Forbidden Door. He dismissed Briscoe as a “blue collar” man who could never get the better of him.
Though Briscoe’s stipulation reveal was pre-taped, the confrontation quickly turned live. Briscoe stormed the ring and attacked MJF, emptying a bag of thumbtacks onto the mat as he set up for the Jay Driller. MJF narrowly escaped the move but was forced to leave his signature scarf behind, which Briscoe promptly used to blow his nose on.
