The status of Keith Lee in AEW has been one of the biggest question marks over the past year. While the Limitless One has finally broken his silence, his latest statement has only deepened the uncertainty around his comeback.
In a post on X, Lee gave a definitive yet cryptic update on his future: “A Return To The Ring Will Certainly Happen. I Won’t Posit How Or When.” With that, he directly addressed his prolonged absence from television.
Lee has been out since late 2023, when he was abruptly pulled from a scheduled match against Swerve Strickland at the Worlds End pay-per-view. It was later revealed he had not been medically cleared to compete and subsequently underwent two surgeries, the specifics of which were never made public.
The situation became more complicated earlier this year when Lee confirmed he was cleared but said a return was “not up to me,” seemingly putting the decision in AEW management’s hands. That aligns with reports from last month indicating that, although his name has come up in creative meetings, there are no concrete plans for his return, in part due to an already crowded roster.
For now, fans remain in limbo, waiting for the return of one of AEW’s most unique powerhouses. Lee has confirmed the destination is a comeback to the ring—the path to get there, however, remains unknown.
