Tomorrow’s NXT Homecoming is shaping up to be a stacked show, but a major change has been made to one of its marquee matches involving a main roster champion.
In a post on social media earlier today, NXT General Manager Ava announced that WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton has been pulled from her scheduled six-woman tag match. Citing a medical issue, Ava confirmed former NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria as the replacement: “After her WWE Women’s Championship Match on SmackDown, Tiffany Stratton is not medically cleared to compete at Homecoming. As a result, former NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria will be taking her place in the six-woman tag team match against Fatal Influence.”
The injury stems from Stratton’s brutal title defense on Friday’s SmackDown. In a hard-hitting match against Jade Cargill, the bout ended in a double count-out after Cargill drove the champion through the ringside barricade.
As if that weren’t enough to sideline her, Stratton was then attacked post-match by a returning Nia Jax, who hit the Annihilator on the champion before also taking out Cargill.
With the change, the updated Homecoming match will now see Rhea Ripley, Stephanie Vaquer, and Lyra Valkyria team up against Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Jazmyn Nyx, collectively known as Fatal Influence.
The card also includes Ethan Page defending the North American Championship against Tyler Breeze, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss putting the Women’s Tag Team Titles on the line against Izzi Dame and Tatum Paxley, and a blockbuster tag match pitting Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes against Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. Additionally, NXT Champion Oba Femi and his number-one contender, Ricky Saints, are set for a face-to-face on The Grayson Waller Effect.
