NXT returns to its roots tonight, broadcasting a special Homecoming event from Full Sail University, the venue most closely tied to the brand’s black-and-gold era.
Headlining the nostalgia is former NXT Champion Bobby Roode, who will make his first WWE television appearance in three years. Roode’s title reign, which stretched over 200 days, became a defining chapter in NXT following his arrival in 2016.
The 47-year-old has been absent from screens since the spring of 2022, when he wrestled his last televised match on Raw. Multiple neck surgeries in November 2022 and May 2023 sidelined him for more than two years. Although cleared for competition, Roode has since transitioned into a full-time producer role, a career goal he had set when he joined WWE nearly eight years ago.
Roode’s return is just one piece of a loaded lineup celebrating NXT’s history. DIY, Tyler Breeze, Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss are all confirmed to appear, alongside more recent additions Bianca Belair, United States Champion Sami Zayn, and William Regal.
The card has also seen a late adjustment. Tiffany Stratton, originally slated for a six-woman tag match, has been pulled due to injury. Lyra Valkyria will step in as her replacement, teaming with Ripley and Stephanie Vaquer against Fatal Influence.
