Shawn Michaels Drops Major Tease Ahead Of Tonight’s WWE NXT Special

NXT returns to its roots tonight, as the Homecoming special broadcasts from Full Sail University in a tribute to the brand’s history. In a video released earlier today, Shawn Michaels voiced his anticipation for the event, saying, “It’s great to be back … but what’s more exciting is what lies ahead TONIGHT at #NXTHomecoming.”

The show opens with two of NXT’s most influential figures. According to Cory Hays of BodySlam, WWE executives and D-Generation X members Triple H and Shawn Michaels will kick off the broadcast, setting the tone for the night.

That theme of connecting eras runs through the entire card. The main event reunites #DIY, with Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano set to face Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. Also returning is Bobby Roode, making his first televised appearance in more than three years after transitioning to a full-time producer role following multiple neck surgeries in 2022.

Two championship bouts add further stakes. Ethan Page defends the NXT North American Championship against Tyler Breeze, while WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair meet challengers Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame. A six-woman tag match has also been adjusted, as Tiffany Stratton was removed due to injury. Lyra Valkyria now joins Rhea Ripley and Stephanie Vaquer against Fatal Influence.

Additional appearances from Finn Balor, United States Champion Sami Zayn, Bianca Belair, and William Regal round out the lineup, positioning Homecoming as both a salute to NXT’s past and a statement on its future.
